Bio Technology For Waste Water Management Project

The wastewater from dyeing and printing industries of  World district has been posing a serious concern to the ground-water and water-bodies in the region.

The colouring reagents like malachite green, procion red yellow, acid yellow-9, crystal violet, azo dyes etc. used in the dyeing and printing process are ultimately reaching the ground-water and water bodies, beyond the safe permissible limits.

The analysis of water samples from the water bodies of this region showed the higher values of TDS, BOD, COD, etc. compare to the standards prescribed for the potable water. Microorganims like bacteria and fungi are known for their roles in biodegradation and bioremediation of the polluted water

. Present work aims to develop and effective and efficient bioremediation strategy for textile wastewater of this region, employing microbial isolates and consortia, as the physical and chemical treatment of wastewater is neither economical nor eco-friendly.
